The Plettenberg Bay Checkers shopping centre is classically designed and centered around a convenient parking area, lined with a wide selection of shops. The earthy colour palette and modernist profile of the building enhance the urban feel of the architectural design. The steel structure which was detailed and fabricated by R.A.W. Projects utilized over 90 tonnes of steel with exposed beams and roof supports as part of the architectural theme.
The design of the interior spaces of the shopping centre is very modern and open plan. With high ceilings and exposed ventilation ducts giving the centre a very urban architectural feel. The state-of-the-art Checkers store is designed with wider aisles and deeper shelves to improve the usability and customer experience.
